Reduces the area of protected territories on Earth

According to a study conducted by James Watson from the University of Queensland in Australia and the Society of wildlife conservation (USA), over the past 20 years the face of the Earth disappeared a tenth of protected areas.

Approximately 20 % of mainland regions of our planet categorized as protected areas. This means that in such territories is not conducted large-scale human activities including the construction of housing, implementation of industrial projects etc. Most of these territories are in North America, Northern Asia, North Africa and Australia.

However, according to experts, over the past 20 years, the total area of protected territories decreased by 3.3 million sq. km. the Experts call upon governments around the world to draw attention to the alarming trend and to develop mechanisms of state protection of wildlife.
