Shiveluch volcano threw a powerful column of ash

The volcano Shiveluch in the morning on Tuesday threw a column of ash to a height of 9 km above sea level.

Ash volcano recorded ash release. The height of ash emission was up to 9 km. Taking into account the direction of the wind, the ash plume spread 70 kilometers eastward from the volcano toward the Ozernaya Bay. There are no settlements on the way of ash plume propagation.

International routes for the movement of aircraft in the area of ​​the volcano do not pass. Tourist groups, according to the press service, are not registered in the volcano area. Rescuers recommend that tourist organizations do not organize tours around the volcano.

The height of Shiveluch is 3 thousand 283 m, the highest point of the active part is 2 thousand 800 m above sea level, the age is 60-70 thousand years. Shiveluch is the northernmost active volcano in Kamchatka, located 45 km from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, where about 5 thousand people live. Activity Shiweluch intensified in May 2009. As a result, the dome of the volcano erupted a crevice with a depth of about 30 m.
