Significant eruption at Sinabung Volcano, Indonesia

The Indonesian volcano Sinabung experienced a significant eruption with pyroclastic flow and volcanic ash up to 9.1 km above sea level on June 6, 2021 at 16:35 UTC.

The eruption lasted 421 seconds and was not clearly visible due to fog and clouds. At 21:40 UTC, three levels of volcanic ash were observed: up to 9.1 km above sea level moving west-west, up to 7.3 km above sea level moving westward, and up to 4.2 km above sea level moving northward.

The aviation color code was raised to red at 17:53 UTC and lowered to orange at 06:25 on June 7.
