The death toll in Turkey and Syria exceeded 7 thousand people

Turkey’s earthquake death toll has risen to 5,894, TASS reports, citing a statement by Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay. Earlier it was reported about 5434 dead. 34,810 people were affected. 5,775 buildings were destroyed in the country.

More than 16,000 rescuers, both Turkish and foreign, have been involved in the elimination of the consequences of a natural disaster. The most difficult situation has developed in the cities of Kahramanmarash, Hatay and Adiyaman.

In Syria, according to the country’s Ministry of Health, the death toll has risen to 1,250, with 2,054 injured. Russian rescuers and military personnel take part in search and rescue operations.
