The eruption of the Fuego volcano in Guatemala

The victims of the eruption of the Fuego volcano in Guatemala are at least 25 people. Hundreds of residents of potentially vulnerable areas are housed in shelters. There is no information on the missing persons.

Guatemala declared a high level of danger, and in its three departments (Cimaltenango, Escuintle and Sacatepequez) – the maximum. The consequences of the eruption of the volcano affected more than 1.7 million people. According to seismologists, the volcano throws ash at a height of up to 10 kilometers above sea level. This eruption has become one of the most powerful in recent years.

Lava flows from the crater of the volcano passed through several villages, destroying houses and roads. Settlements in a few dozen kilometers from the volcano fell ashes.

The authorities of Guatemala fear that the number of victims may increase, since the fate of some residents is still unknown.
