The number of missing as a result of the eruption of the volcano Fuego was almost 200 people, said Tuesday evening the head of the national service for disaster reduction of Guatemala Sergio Cabañas.
“We have 192 people missing, there are their names, age and from what villages they were,” the government of Guatemala quotes Cabañas at a press conference.
The National Institute of Forensic Sciences of Guatemala reported that 75 bodies of the dead were found, of which only 23 people have been identified so far.
Earlier, the director of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences of the country, Fanuel Garcia, estimated the total number of dead as a result of the eruption of the Fuego volcano in 72 people. Another 35 remained in hospitals, most of them were critical.
