Tinakula volcano left people on the Reef islands without drinking water

The fifth day in a row, the Tinakul volcano erupts in the Solomon Islands. As a result of ash fall, wells and water sources were polluted on nearby islands.

Local residents need urgent help, but while using coconut juice instead of drinking water.

Director of the National Directorate for Disaster Management Loti Yates said that fresh water is already on the way, however, the delivery will take at least 20 hours.

The small 3.5-kilometer uninhabited island of Tinakula is the open top of a massive stratovolcano that rises 3-4 km from the seabed and is located north of the islands of Santa Cruz.
