Trinidad and Tobago is engulfed by flooding

After hours of continuous rain, floodwaters are rising rapidly in parts of Santa Flora, Palo Seco and Erin. In Laurensotta, Palo Seco.

The Lamorell Trail was completely impassable, with water overflowing over unfinished drains nearby.

Resident Tara Luke said residents suffer flooding every year. “The Erin River needs to be widened and regularly dredged. About 10 to 12 families are affected, and we need to do something right now,” Luke said.

The Palo Seco settlement and Rancho Quenado are among the hardest hit areas.
