Wildfires trigger evacuation in Oregon and southwest Washington

Strong winds and hot and dry weather create ideal conditions for fires in the Northwest United States.

The Oregon Emergency Management Agency says there are over 480 active fires in the state, adding that more than 2.5 million acres have burned. On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Keith Brown issued a statement on the introduction of an emergency.

Several rapidly spreading fires prompted an evacuation order for residents of Oregon and southwestern Washington on Monday night.
