In the United States, a ten-year-old girl died from complications from the plague. In six counties in Colorado, after laboratory testing, the Department of Health and the Environment has confirmed cases of animal plague and fleas. The causative agent of the disease is the plague bacillus (Yersinia pestis). Although the plague is highly lethal, it can be cured early on. It proceeds with a serious general condition, fever, damage to the lymph nodes and lungs.
Doctors recommend staying away from rodents, taking sick animals to the veterinary clinic and observing all precautions, according to the WGN9 TV channel.
