There are not so many places on the Earth where really big waves are not an exception, but a rule. And the town of Nazare in Portugal is one of those places.
Unusual underwater geography near Nazare makes this coastal city a real Mecca for surfers. It was here that champion Garrett McNamara set the record on a wave of 31 meters high. And this winter was especially unusual in terms of wave height.
