In Russia have forbidden to grow GMO

President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing a ban on cultivation and breeding in Russia genetically modified plants and animals. The exception will make only for the use of GMOs for scientific purposes. The decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The law provides for a ban on the import into Russia of genetically modified organisms according to the results of monitoring their effects on humans. Importing products will be required to pass a special registration procedure.

The document also introduces administrative liability for the use of GMOs with a violation of the permitted types and conditions of use. Officials will have to pay for violations a fine in the amount from 10 to 20 thousand rubles. Legal entities — from 100 thousand to 500 thousand rubles.
