Scientists from the medical genetic center Genotek analyzed genetic data from almost two thousand people in Russia and found that 83% of them are United by kinship ties, the press service of the company.
We conducted a study and found that in eight cases out of ten it is possible to identify genetic relationships from the first to the tenth generation. The study began in September of 2015. During this time we studied the genomes of 1 848 people aged 20 to 45 years, 59% of which were male and 41% female. To determine the kinship between the participants of the experiments, the researchers analyzed the structure of their paternal and maternal chromosomes, comparing the individual pattern of thousands of small typos in the genes transmitted from parents to children. This makes it easy to keep track of family ties, even if people share ten generations.
After analyzing the data, the scientists came to an amazing conclusion: it turned out that 83% of participants had at least one relative among the participants in this project or in the company database. In the study group was discovered 299 1 family ties from the fifth to the tenth generation, 549 fourth, 39 and 27 of the third and second generations, respectively.
