A resident of Yakutia found in the garden ancient mammoth tusks

A resident of the Yakut village Oy unearthed a mammoth in his estate in his mansion. This is on his page in Facebook, said the local ethnographer Prokopy Nogovitsyn.

“According to our assumptions, this steppe mammoth is an ancestor of a woolly mammoth, 400 thousand years old,” Nogovitsyn wrote, adding that the length of the tusks found is about 270 centimeters, and the circumference at the root is about half a meter.

The regional expert specified that the find is very old, and therefore the tusks’ collectors may not worry. In addition, the discovered specimens are of great scientific value.
