Anthrax case detected in Beijing

The Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention has diagnosed a patient with pulmonary anthrax. The Global Times reported this on Monday.

Doctors found signs of the disease in a resident of the northeastern province of Hebei, bordering the capital of the PRC. Four days later, he was hospitalized in Beijing. Doctors found in his body a bacterium – the causative agent of anthrax. At the moment, the patient is in isolation under the supervision of specialists.

Previously, the sick person had contact with livestock – a possible vector of the disease.

Anthrax is a dangerous infectious disease that can affect the skin, lungs and gastrointestinal tract. It can be transmitted both from animal to person and between people. Moreover, this disease is not as contagious as the flu or the disease caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19).
