Drought kills over 62,000 animals in Tanzania

More than 62,000 animals have died due to a prolonged drought in the Manyara region in northern Tanzania, Xinhua News Agency reports, citing local authorities.

According to Sendeu Laiser, deputy head of the Shimanjiro County Council, 62,585 animals, including cattle, sheep and goats, have fallen victim to the prolonged drought.

Lizer stressed that the drought is forcing livestock farmers to move to areas where there are relative supplies of water and grass for grazing.
