Eruption on Palma: in a day the island rose above sea level by 10 cm

On the Spanish island of Palma, which is part of the Canary Islands, the level of the ground where the volcano erupts has risen by more than 10 cm over the past day.

On Tuesday, the website of the Kingdom’s National Geographic Institute posted a message about the increase in seismological activity. In particular, hundreds of earthquakes were recorded, but their magnitude did not exceed 4.9.

As reported, the volcanic eruption in the area of ​​the settlement of El Paso began on 19 September. More than 2 thousand buildings were destroyed by lava flows.

For safety reasons, about 7 thousand people were evacuated from the island, no one was injured.
