If the person knows a lot about something, the risk of false memories associated with this theme, it increased twice. It is found by researchers from University College Dublin.
Their study involved 489 people. Volunteers were asked to arrange the order of 7 themes, including football, politics and science, from least to most interesting.
Then participants were asked to recall 4 news regarding the most and least interesting topics. The study showed that interest in the topic increased the number of accurate memories.
However, the number of false memories is also increased. So, 25% of the volunteers had false memories interesting for them topic and only 10% on a topic that interested them.
