Each of us has faced a situation where we had to make an important decision, to change our lives, but the fear of change stopped us. But why does this happen? Why are we afraid to change our lives and how do we cope with the fear of change?
Consequences of fear of change
Fear of change manifests itself in several ways. The first is putting things off, self-sabotage. When a person has important things to do, goals that can take him to a completely different level of life, lead to success, and the person understands his benefits, wants these results, but something inside interferes, does not let him go, stops him, leads him away.
The second is when a person is afraid to dream, to wish, considers himself/herself unworthy. Fear of change prevents you from dreaming, fear of losing what you have now, fear that it will be worse than what you have now. A person clings to what he has and stops developing.
The third way is when something does not go according to plan, not the way you planned and this circumstance knocks you out of your rut. You need to be able to accept change and not get knocked out for a long period of time.
Reasons for fear of change
The first reason is negative attitudes in the subconscious mind. For example, a person has negative attitudes “it is dangerous to be rich”, “if I am rich I will be killed”. So he/she wants to change his/her financial situation, starts to do some actions that can lead him/her to the desired situation and the fear comes on, which manifests as self-sabotage, putting off important things for later, expecting something bad, tension in the body, etc.
The second reason is uncertainty. A person is afraid of the unknown, the uncertainty of the future. He does not know what will happen next and is afraid to take risks.
The third reason is fear of failure. The person is afraid that he/she will not be able to achieve the desired result, that his/her attempts to change life will end in failure.
How do you overcome the fear of change?
Get rid of the negative attitudes in your subconscious. Work on your beliefs and replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
2. Embrace change. Don’t be afraid to take risks or fear the unknown. Change can lead to better results than what you have now.
3. don’t be afraid of failure. Remember that failure is part of the process. You have to learn from your mistakes and move on.
Define your goals and dreams. Set specific goals and act to achieve them. Dream and pursue your desires.
5. Seek help from a psychologist or coach. They can help you deal with your emotions and teach you how to overcome your fear of change.
Fear of change is a natural emotion that can arise with any change in life. But you need to be able to overcome that fear and move forward toward your goals and dreams.
