How to add years to life: the role of protein in prolonging life

Each of us wants to live a long and healthy life. Research shows that good nutrition is one of the key factors that can help prolong life. A recent study published in the journal Cell Metabolism found that moderately increasing protein intake can help prolong life.

Protein is one of the main components of nutrition that plays an important role in our bodies. It is the building material for tissues and muscles and is involved in many biochemical processes in the body.

The study was conducted on mice, which were divided into two groups. One group received a standard diet and the other group received a high-protein diet. Researchers found that the mice that received more protein lived longer and had fewer age-related diseases.

This study does not mean that you should increase your protein intake to extremes. According to World Health Organization recommendations, the average adult should consume about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of weight per day. However, if you play sports or have increased physical activity, you may need more protein.

Also, it is important to understand that not all sources of protein are equally beneficial to the body. Meat and dairy products are good sources of protein, but they also contain saturated fats and cholesterol, which can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The best sources of protein are fish, eggs, soy products and nuts.

It’s also important to remember that good nutrition is only one factor that can help prolong life. Regular physical activity, quitting smoking and drinking alcohol in moderation can also help you live longer and be healthier.
