In Chernobyl, the forest caught fire

In the Exclusion Zone and unconditional (mandatory) resettlement on June 5, around 10:00, there was a fire of dry grass with the subsequent spread of fire to the forest on an area of ​​about 10 hectares, the press service of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergencies.

126 people and 29 units of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire, including aviation (two AN-32P and Mi-8 helicopters). 10 discharges of water (41.5 tons) were carried out.

As noted in the SSES, the wind at the site of the fire is southeastern, the spread of combustion products towards the city of Kiev is not observed.

The radiation background in the cities of Kiev, Chernobyl and on the industrial site of the Chernobyl NPP is within the norm. So, in Kiev, the radiation background is 11 microR / hour (safe level – up to 30 microR / h).
