GE Renewable Energy plans to install the world’s largest wind generator near the UK coast. The windmill will be called Haliade-X. It will be built and tested during the next five years.
The wind turbine will have a record capacity of 12 MW. Haliade-X will produce 45% more electricity than any other wind power plant. In a year the wind generator will be able to produce up to 67 GWh of electricity, which is enough to supply 16 thousand households.
The height of the Haliade-X is 260 meters, and the diameter of the rotor is 220 meters.
