Japanese specialists from the University of Tokyo have developed a tiny LED device capable of flying in the air like a firefly.
A semicircular device can hang in the air when ultrasonic sources are used.
A “firefly” that can be used, for example, for lighting while reading a book, has a size of 4 mm and weighs 16 mg. The device, called the Luciola, does not have a battery. The required energy is received wirelessly.
According to scientists, in the future such devices can be combined into groups to create images in the air.
