Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits the Pacific Ocean

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck the Pacific Ocean south of the Australian state of Tasmania, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was recorded at 05.19 UTC (08.19 Moscow time). The epicenter of the tremors was located 1,864 kilometers south of the city of Hobart. The hearth lay at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Information about possible casualties and destruction was not received.
