Robot will help restore frescoes in Pompeii

Since September this year, a robot has begun to work on the restoration of the destroyed frescoes in Pompeii.

During a volcanic eruption in 79 AD in Pompeii, frescoes and mosaics were badly damaged or disintegrated into many small fragments. It is impossible to collect them by hand, so until that moment they were kept in museum depositories.

Now the robot will be engaged in the restoration of works of art. It is equipped with artificial intelligence and, with the help of mechanical hands, is able to scan and recognize small fragments, and then arrange them in the desired sequence.
It is specified that it will take him four years to restore the destroyed frescoes of one of the buildings.
