The Japanese have developed an innovative method of manufacturing electronic tattoos

Earlier tattoos have served only to decorate the body, but thanks to modern technology, tattoos can get some functionality. In particular, production of electronic tattoos allows you to apply various electronic components directly on the skin, which may affect the development of wearable devices. In addition, the use of such technologies may allow to measure the glucose level or blood alcohol without the aid of additional devices. A real breakthrough in the technology of electronic tattoo made by researchers from Waseda University who have developed a new method of creating and applying the conductive ink. Print transactions in new technologies is carried out using a basic inkjet printer, and the connection of the components is possible without additional soldering.

The electronic tattoo, developed by researchers, made from ultra-thin sheets of flexible elastomeric film with a thickness of 750 nanometers. The formation of the wiring it is possible with inkjet printing on these films. Components like chips, resistors, LEDs, and others, can be placed along the wiring on the tape without the use of solder by applying a new layer of film.

Adhesive film layers not only adhere perfectly to each other, but also to the skin. Thus, the electronic circuit tattoos can be printed on a home inkjet printer, and the whole process of applying tattoos on your skin may take place at room temperature and without the need to sterilize the room.

Such tattoo can find its application in monitoring the movement of human muscles, in monitoring vital parameters of the organism and even in the creation of the wireless access point to the Internet.
