Antarctica is one of the most mysterious continents on our planet. This snow-covered continent still remains poorly understood and its history is a mystery. However, recent research has shown that our ideas about Antarctica’s past may be mistaken.
One of the most surprising finds is a map by Philippe Boisset, which he made in 1739. This map depicts Antarctica in perfect agreement with modern maps, which causes surprise and questions among scientists. How was Bouachet able to create such an accurate map if there were no means to study Antarctica at the time?
Research conducted in 1958 under the International Geophysical Year program confirmed that the image of Antarctica on Boishe’s map corresponds to the actual configuration of the continent. However, to know that Antarctica is an archipelago, a survey must be made in an area free of ice. Thus, we can assume that Bouachet had access to primary sources that are tens of thousands of years old.
But where could these primary sources have come from, and who created such accurate maps at such a distant point in time? According to our understanding, there was no civilization on Earth at that time. However, some scientists believe that we may be mistaken in our beliefs.
In 1929, American archaeologist Herbert Cullerton discovered ancient drawings in South America, which are strange figures resembling spaceships. Cullerton believed that these drawings were created by Indians of an ancient civilization that had knowledge of space and technology superior to our own.
In addition, some scientists believe that there may have been ancient civilizations on Earth that were destroyed by disasters or went extinct for other reasons. For example, in 2018, archaeologists discovered an ancient city in Mexico that was inhabited before the Maya and Aztecs. This city, called Tlatilco, was destroyed around 1150 B.C., and it is still unknown what caused its fall.
Ancient civilizations may have had technology that allowed them to create highly accurate maps and study Antarctica. But in order to learn the truth about the past, we need to continue research and expand our knowledge.
