A meteorite landed in a schoolyard in Bacolod, Philippines
A red-hot meteorite, landed on the campus of Negros Occidental High School (NOHS). According to NOHS Principal Mario Amack, he and others at the school heard a loud explosion around 4 p.m. Friday.
Jeanette Sarcillo, wife of one of the school’s security guards, later said she found a “space rock” falling near the guards’ cabin.
“I saw the flaming object falling from the sky. As it got closer to the ground, it got bigger and bigger and made a loud explosion as it fell,” she said.
“It’s almost as big as my fist and looks like a meteorite.”
“It’s very hard. If you scratch it against a sharp object, it will turn white and go back to its original color.”
