A bright ball of fire exploded over the French Antilles, illuminating the night sky between Martinique north to Anguilla and west to Puerto Rico.
The American Meteorite Society (AMS) received seven reports of this event, mainly from witnesses in Grand Terre, St. John, and St. Thomas.
A bright flash of light was observed from Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthelemy, Gustavia and Puerto Rico.
The AMC reporting witnesses were mainly located in Grand Terre, St. John, and St. Thomas.
Meanwhile, one observer in Antigua and Barbuda claimed that other people also witnessed this phenomenon in St. Kitts and Florida. “No tail or fragmentation can be seen – only a super-bright flash that lit up the whole sky in all directions,” he added.
Observers described the color of the fireball in different ways, some said that it looked purple and light blue, orange and yellow or light green. One eyewitness stated that the object had a luminous orange trail and a green flash that lit up the sky very brightly.
