Asteroid 2021 JB6 flew past Earth at a distance of 106,210 km

The newly discovered asteroid 2021 JB6 flew past Earth at a distance of 106,210 km at 22:55 UTC on May 13, 2021. This is the 56th known asteroid to pass by Earth at a 1-moon distance since the beginning of the year, and the 5th this month.

2021 JB6 was first seen on Pan-STARRS 1, Haleakala, Hawaii, on May 8, 5 days before approaching.

The object belongs to the Apollo asteroid group and has an estimated diameter of 4.7 to 10 m.
