China wants to build a huge space station kilometers long

China already has its own orbiting space station, but the country’s National Natural Science Foundation wants scientists to think seriously about what it would take to build an “ultra-large spacecraft kilometers long.”

In other words, China has just informed the world that it is interested in building a spaceship kilometers long. Yes, kilometers, …

The report notes that this particular endeavor is part of a major strategic aerospace project that will ensure “future use of space resources, exploration of the mysteries of the universe and staying in long-term orbit.”

According to the project outline provided by the foundation, the work is being managed by an agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

As soon as the news broke, it stirred the Chinese Internet, especially among space fiction fans. Some enthusiastic Internet users jokingly compared the ship to “starships” from movies and TV shows.

Some noted that the Chinese spacecraft, which is designed to be a kilometer long, will be at least 10 times longer than the International Space Station (ISS), which is currently the largest spacecraft flying in space (in the upper layers of the Earth’s atmosphere to be precise).

Experts stressed that despite the great difficulties in creating such a spacecraft, it has broad application prospects. For example, it could be used to build a space power plant that would allow large-scale all-weather generation of energy from space to earth by converting solar energy into electrical energy.

Comment: Reading news like this, I am amazed at how the media has duped the population of the earth – space, space, space, from space… The ISS flies in the upper layers of the Earth’s atmosphere, the Chinese “kilometer-long ship” will also fly there (if built) – it will hang out in the atmosphere, just like the ISS and fly exclusively at the expense of the speed constantly given to it with the constant lifting of the orbit, otherwise these “space ships” would simply fall to Earth, as in fact they are a cannonball flying around the Earth in the atmosphere and weightlessness appears there exclusively for the same reason. Baron Munchausen would have envied their tales…

The Chinese can build a core 10 kilometers in size, but that does not mean that this core will be able to reach outer space. Outside the Earth’s magnetosphere, nothing living can survive.
