NASA published a new snapshot of Mars, which shows the north-polar layered deposits. Multiple small dots on the photo are blocks of ice, with time they become more and more.
The image was obtained with the help of the interplanetary station Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), which was launched into orbit of Mars in 2005. He carries a lot of scientific instruments for analyzing the relief, minerals and ice on Mars. Scientists receive from him data on meteorology and surface and select places for possible disembarkations on the planet.
