New images of Jupiter taken

Two new photos of Jupiter and Europa were taken from the Hubble Space Telescope. The image shows a giant storm on the planet.

The photo was taken on August 25, 2020, when the planet was 633 million kilometers from Earth. On it, you can see a white storm in the northern latitudes, which moves at a speed of 560 km / h.

While storms frequently occur in the region, this particular disturbance appears to have a greater structure than has previously been observed. The trail is followed by small, counterclockwise dark clots that were not there in the past. Scientists believe this could be the beginning of a great white spot that rivals the legendary Great Red Spot in the southern hemisphere.

To the left of the gas giant, Jupiter’s icy moon Europa is visible. It is believed that this moon hides a liquid ocean under its ice crust, making this moon a prime target in the search for habitable worlds outside of Earth.
