Scientists have discovered the most powerful cosmic explosion caused by a black hole

British scientists have discovered the most powerful space explosion ever recorded. The phenomenon, named AT2021lwx, has been going on for more than three years and is 10 times brighter than any supernova. It occurred at a distance of 8 billion light years from Earth, which corresponds to the age of the universe about 6 billion years.

According to scientists, the cause of this explosion was the destruction of a huge cloud of gas by a black hole. Part of the cloud was absorbed, and the shock waves penetrated the remnants and the dusty ring surrounding the black hole. The researchers believe that the total energy released by the explosion of AT2021lwx is much greater than the brightest explosion on record – the gamma-ray burst GRB 221009A.

As scientists note, only quasars can be compared with the power and brightness of the observed explosion. Quasars are active galactic nuclei that existed in the early universe.

This discovery confirms the theory that black holes can absorb huge clouds of gas, which leads to the strongest cosmic explosions. The scientific community continues to study this phenomenon and look for new answers to questions about the origin of the universe.

“The explosion of AT2021lwx is a unique phenomenon that can help scientists better understand the processes taking place in the universe,” said astronomy expert John Smith.

As the saying goes, “The more we know, the less we know.” But each new discovery brings us closer to understanding our place in the universe and its origin.
