The 5-day series of polar geomagnetic storms comes to an end when the Earth comes out of the rapidly moving solar wind stream. The subsequent silence will not last long. It is expected that geomagnetic activity will return on October 18, when the Earth enters a new stream of solar wind.
For a whole week, October 9-15, the solar disk was absolutely clean. There were no sunspots and no solar flares. At the same time, space weather was extremely turbulent. From 11 to 15 October, no day passed without a geomagnetic storm.
